Promotion & relegation¶
Leagues can run multiple divisions (e.g. Division 1, Division 2). At the end of a season the top teams of a lower division move up and the bottom teams of a higher division move down — a classic ladder.
Configure per division¶
League admin → edit a division:
- Promotions (top N) — how many teams from this division move up one level in the next season.
- Relegations (bottom N) — how many teams move down one level.
The top division never promotes; the bottom division never relegates. You can also set a recommended average per division to help players pick the right level.
Preview before you apply¶
League admin → season → 🪜 Ladder. The preview lists every team per division, ordered by the final table, with its outcome:
- Up → promoted (target = one level higher)
- Down → relegated (target = one level lower)
- Stays → no change
Empty or unplayed divisions preview cleanly — outcomes only apply where teams and standings exist.
Apply to the next season¶
Use Clone season and enable Apply promotion / relegation. Teams are placed into the new season's divisions at their promoted / relegated level; each division's settings (recommended average, promote / relegate counts) carry over. Without that option the clone simply copies every team into the same division.
