Ranking series¶
A ranking series is a long-running points race across many tournaments. Think: Club Championship 2026 — points from 8 events, drop your two worst.
How it works¶
- Club admin creates a series with a points formula and rules.
- Tournaments are linked to the series (a tournament can belong to one series).
- After each tournament, each participant earns points based on their finish.
- The series leaderboard updates live. Final standings at season end.
Create a series¶
Club admin → Ranking → Create series.

Points scaling — what to choose?¶
The points scale controls how much a top finish is worth compared to a mid-pack finish.

| Linear | Gap between 1st and 2nd same as 10th and 11th. | Casual series where participation counts. |
| Square root | Top finishes worth a lot; diminishing differences lower down. | Recommended default. Rewards winners without crushing mid-pack. |
| Logarithmic | Very steep at the top, almost flat lower down. | Elite events where only the podium matters. |
You can preview the points curve as you change this setting.
Drop-worst rule¶
If you set Drop worst N = 2, every participant's two lowest scores are excluded from their total. This rewards consistency and lets players miss a couple of events without being penalised.
Series leaderboard¶
The series leaderboard shows:
- Total points (after drop-worst).
- Events played.
- Best result.
- Trend — point change from the last event.
Players can click through to any event to see where the points came from.
A series is only about points across tournaments — it does not schedule matches. Use a league if you want fixtures. Use a tournament for one-off brackets.
Worked example: Club Championship 2026¶
Scenario: 10 monthly tournaments in the Berlin Darts Club feed into a year-long championship. Players' two worst results are dropped. Top 8 at year end qualify for a knockout final.
Create the series¶
- Club admin → Ranking → Create series.
- Fill in:

5(prevents a single-event player from appearing on the leaderboard) - Require verified players: on

- Save. The series is now selectable when creating tournaments.
Feed tournaments into the series¶
Every month, create a new tournament (see the tournament worked example) and pick Club Championship 2026 under Series. As soon as the tournament is finalised:
- Each participant's placement is converted to points using your chosen points scale.
- Points show up in the series leaderboard within seconds.
- A player with more than 10 results still only counts their 8 best (drop-worst = 2).
Final event — year-end knockout¶
Once the 10 monthly events are done:
- Export the series leaderboard (CSV button on the series page).
- Create a new tournament, format Single elimination, 8 players, seeding Manual.
- Drag the top 8 from the series leaderboard into positions 1–8.
- Do not link this tournament back to the series (it's the final, not another regular event). Leave Is ranked on so it still feeds the global leaderboard.
